Removing tattoos with laser

TBL Medical, in collaboration with Clear Ink, has Norway's best laser park for tattoo removal.

Clear Ink is TBL Medical's tattoo removal department.

Tattoo removal is an important focus area for TBL Medical, and we want to be at the forefront of new technology (lasers) and treatment techniques. We therefore have a separate department dedicated solely to tattoo removal, called Clear Ink. Clear Ink will always have the best lasers for tattoo removal.
The clinic is located in the same premises as TBL Medical, and you will be treated by the same staff as at TBL Medical.

Tattoos can be beautiful, artistic, and fashionable, but beauty is relative to the individual, the art you like today changes, and fashions do not last forever.

We always use the latest and best laser technology

PicoWay is a so-called picosecond laser, which is the best and latest technology on the market for tattoo removal. PicoWay is now considered to be the new gold standard for laser tattoo removal.

Unfortunately, no laser can remove all types of tattoos in all color spectrums yet, not even PicoWay. Fortunately, we have several "weapons" (lasers) to remove your tattoo.
Where PicoWay or Pico Pro with their pico-second technology fall short, our Q-Switched NdYag 1064, KTP 532 laser and the fractional Erbium Yag 2940 from Fotona or Alma Lasers can help.
In most cases, several lasers must be combined to remove a tattoo 100%.

With several pico lasers, nano lasers, and fractat, we can safely say that we have one of Norway's best and most complete laser parks for tattoo removal.

NOTE: Several clinics have recently appeared in Norway that use cheap lasers made in China. Some use the name PICO in the name of the laser, and some are direct copies of well-known laser suppliers. What they all have in common is that they are not picosecond lasers, are dangerous to use, or at best do not work. A tattoo must be treated several times to be completely removed.

How does laser tattoo removal work?

You have probably noticed that black colors absorb sunlight and generate more heat than light colors. Think of a black car that has been parked in the sun during the summer, compared to a white car. The black car gets hotter because sunlight is more easily absorbed by dark colors.

The principle behind laser tattoo removal works in the same way.
The laser light is tuned to the individual color in the skin and targets the area of the skin that has that color, thereby destroying the color particles.
The laser breaks these color particles down into smaller particles so that the body can absorb them more easily.
This happens over time, which is why it takes a while to see the effects of a single treatment. The body simply needs a little time to absorb the destroyed particles (6-8 weeks).

How does the treatment work?

Before we begin treatment on a new customer, we always offer a free consultation where we look at the tattoo together.
Together, we try as best we can to estimate the number of treatments required to meet your expectations as a customer.
It is important that the information you provide us with at this stage is correct. The questions will be, for example: Age of tattoo.

Before we begin treatment, we will wash the area with disinfectant and then start treatment with the laser.
The practitioner will move the laser over the area to be treated with a steady motion. You will hear the sound of the laser being fired at the tattoo ink and feel a slight pain that most people describe as a rubber band being snapped against your skin.
This is a pain that most people can tolerate very well.
The duration of treatment varies from person to person, but a small tattoo can be treated in a couple of minutes.

How many treatments will I need?

An estimate of how many treatments you will need to remove your unique tattoo will be given during the consultation, before we start the treatment. There are many factors that come into play, but in most cases, 90 to 95 percent of the color will be gone after 4-8 treatments.

It is impossible to give a guaranteed exact number of treatments your tattoo will need to be removed, but based on experience, we can give you an estimate.
Although the practitioner cannot guarantee the exact number of treatments you will need, in most cases they can guarantee the maximum number of treatments you will pay for.
This way, you as a customer are assured that you will not pay more than the maximum number of agreed treatments, even if you need more.

Cover up

Are you considering getting a cover-up for your tattoo?

Why not bleach or remove your old tattoo? This will give your tattoo artist a new and better canvas on which to create a new work of art.
Most people who want a cover-up for an old tattoo do so because they no longer like it and want to get rid of it, thinking that covering it with a new tattoo will solve the problem. What we often see is that the new tattoo is too dark or too large, which in turn causes many of our customers to come to us and regret the cover-up tattoo. This usually works fine, but it means many more treatments to remove both tattoos.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions

  • 1. Why remove tattoos at TBL Medical / Clear Ink?
We have decades of experience in laser tattoo removal and have removed thousands of tattoos over the years.
Experience must be the absolute best argument for choosing us. Any doctor or nurse can buy a laser and take a 4-hour course from the supplier, and then start a clinic.
If you do not choose us, then at least choose a practitioner who has extensive experience with tattoo removal.
  • 2. Can I sunbathe before and after laser tattoo removal treatment?
No (well, yes). You should not sunbathe directly on the tattoo for 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after treatment. If you want to sunbathe, cover the area and apply sunblock.
  • 3. What is PicoWay?

PicoWay® is a new picosecond laser from Syneron-Candela. It is currently considered the world's best laser for removing unwanted tattoos. By combining multiple wavelengths in the same laser, all tattoos of different colors and types can be treated. PicoWay can treat dark and light skin types, all ink colors, and professional as well as amateur tattoos. Picoway is unique in removing unwanted tattoos, whether you want to fade, correct, or remove the tattoo completely. By being able to treat more often and more gently, you will feel that this treatment is really worth it. But remember, where Picoway may fall short, our expertise and use of combination treatment with QS laser and erbium can remove even the most difficult tattoos. If we can't remove your tattoo, no one else can.

There are many advantages to PicoWay, but the most important ones for you are that it is now possible to remove tattoos that were previously impossible to remove, the time it takes to remove the tattoo has been reduced, and it is less painful.

  • 4. What is a picosecond laser?
Picosecond lasers, such as Picoway, deliver light in extremely short pulses, which means that the ink is broken down into dust particles so small that the body can get rid of the ink in record time. This means that you can usually return for a new treatment after just two weeks, unlike in the past when you had to wait at least six weeks because the ink was only broken down into particles that took longer for the body to get rid of. However, this will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, as several factors involved in tattoo removal will determine how often you can come in for treatment.
  • 5. How do lasers actually remove tattoos?

You have probably noticed that black colors absorb sunlight and generate more heat than light colors. Think of a black car that has been parked in the sun during the summer, compared to a white car. The black car gets hotter because sunlight is more easily absorbed by dark colors.

The principle behind laser tattoo removal works in the same way. The laser light is tuned to the individual color in the skin and targets the area of skin that has that color, thereby destroying the color particles. The laser breaks these color particles down into smaller particles so that the body can absorb and excrete them. This happens over time, which is why it takes time to see the effects of a single treatment. The body simply needs a little time to absorb the destroyed particles.

  • 6. How many treatments will I need to remove the tattoo?
We can "estimate," but never give you an exact answer for how many treatments you will need because there are so many factors involved. What we can do is give you a maximum number of treatments that you will pay for.
  • 7. How much does it cost to remove a tattoo with laser treatment?
There are many factors that come into play. Size, skin type, color, age, to name a few, so it is impossible to estimate the price without first seeing the tattoo. Come in for a completely free consultation and price estimate. We guarantee the number of treatments you pay for. If you need more treatments than the maximum price quoted during the consultation, you will receive free treatments until you are satisfied.
  • 8. Does it hurt to remove a tattoo with a laser?
Imagine you are in the Bahamas; you are sitting on the beach watching the sunset while feeling the rays of the soft evening sun warming your skin. That's not how it is when you remove a tattoo with a laser. Unfortunately, removing a tattoo is a little uncomfortable, but nowhere near as painful as getting a tattoo. With PicoWay, there is almost no pain, only discomfort.
