Fractional Laser Treatment for Scars, Wrinkles, and Lines

Fractional laser treatment reduces scars, wrinkles, lines, and furrows in the skin.

Reduce acne scars, wrinkles, and pores with fractional laser

Do you want to reduce acne scars, common scars, lines, wrinkles, pores, pigment spots, or simply reduce unevenness in the skin?

Fractional laser treatment is an effective medical laser treatment for all of the above problems.

We offer treatment with Fotona SP Dynamis Pro or Ipixel, both of which are fractional Erbium lasers.
Fractional treatment will give you results that are just as good as ablative treatment, but without the downtime and side effects that ablative treatment can cause.

What is fractional laser treatment and how does it work?

The laser works by producing thousands of deep micro laser points in the skin, also known as Micro Thermal Zones (MTZ).
The laser penetrates the skin with tiny holes, down to the exact depth and width required for the type of treatment.

Like CO2 lasers, erbium lasers are also fractional, meaning that they treat specific areas for increased safety and faster healing times. The erbium laser works at different depths where we want to stimulate the regeneration of fresh, thick, and healthy skin. The tiny "holes" in the skin trigger the body's healing process and stimulate the regeneration of collagen/connective tissue, which in turn leads to skin renewal. The only visible change on the surface is a little redness and perhaps mild swelling, and you can return to work very quickly after treatment.

How does the treatment itself work?

The treatment itself is performed by applying the laser directly to the skin in the desired treatment area.
As with all laser treatments, you will feel some pain during the treatment itself.
How painful this is for the individual varies greatly from person to person. We use cryo air/Zimmer to cool the skin, which minimizes the pain. If necessary, we can also apply anesthetic cream.

Fotona SP Dynamis: has multiple wavelengths, and we will usually combine several wavelengths to achieve the best effect.
Acne scars or general skin renewal of skin structure is often combined with, for example, smooth mode for immediate tightening in combination with fractional treatment to minimize scars, lines, and pigmentation. Here we can choose to use a light peel, medium peel, or deep peel, depending on what needs to be treated.
It is also possible to treat deeper for lifting or fat reduction with Piano Mode, Smooth Mode, fractional, and full ablative treatment.

Ipixel: There are two ways to perform the treatment. Sometimes an ipixel laser is rolled over your skin, or we manually move the laser over the area to be treated, firing one "shot" at a time.

The treatment itself takes between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the size of the areas to be treated.

Several treatments at 4-5 week intervals may be necessary to achieve the desired result.

What can you expect after treatment?

Since both Fotona and Ipixel are fractional lasers that deliver thermal heat, it is completely normal to experience redness and a feeling of warmth immediately after treatment. It may feel like a mild sunburn, but this will disappear and subside approximately 15-20 minutes after treatment.
The skin may feel tight and dry during the first 24 hours, and some people may also experience slight swelling, so it is very important to keep the skin moist and well hydrated during the first few days after treatment.

We recommend using Aquaphore from Eucerin (available at pharmacies) or white petroleum jelly.
We also sell Oxygenetix, which is medical makeup that can be applied to sore skin to camouflage redness.

It is also possible to apply PRP immediately after laser treatment, which will result in a shorter healing period.

Your skin will feel rough for a few days, but you can start wearing makeup from day 3-4. If there is a lot of pigment in your skin, it will turn slightly bronze in color before you start flaking, but this can easily be camouflaged.

Flaking after an erbium peel/pixel treatment cannot be compared to TCA peels, where there are large flakes; you will only flake as if your skin is very dry.

The treatment is performed at the clinic in Bergen city center and at Knarvik Senter.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions

  • 1. How many treatments will I need?
Most people see good results after just one treatment, but if we want to work specifically on problem areas such as acne scars, between three and five treatments will be necessary. This will vary from person to person.
  • 2. How long is the downtime after a laser peel?

It depends on the indication and the type of peel chosen.

With a light superficial peel, your skin will usually only be slightly red and dry for 1-3 days.

Deeper treatments can take between 7-10 days before the skin is completely healed, but this will vary from person to person.

  • 3. Can everyone receive treatment?
    • We do not treat those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
    • Some medications, such as isotretinoin, will prevent you from undergoing this treatment while you are on the medication.
    • Darker skin types may be contraindicated for this treatment, but please contact us for a consultation and assessment.
  • 4. Is there anything I need to consider before and after treatment?

If you use strong creams or medications that make your skin sensitive, you should stop using them a few days to weeks before treatment.

It is important not to expose the area to be treated to the sun or self-tanning cream for 1 month before and after treatment.

Your practitioner will go through all your questions during the consultation.
