What exactly is Restylane Skinbooster?
Restylane Skinbooster comes in two different "thicknesses" called Restylane Vital and Restylane Vital Light. These contain hyaluronic acid, which is also found naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid can bind large amounts of water and retain moisture in, for example, our skin.
From before we turn 30, we lose approximately 1% of hyaluronic acid from our skin. Over time, this can cause the skin to become dry and rough, and it can lose its natural glow and develop fine lines and wrinkles.
Restylane Skinbooster consists of hyaluronic acid that has been stabilized using a technique that prevents it from breaking down as quickly as our natural hyaluronic acid, providing a long-lasting moisturizing effect on the skin.
How is the treatment performed?
Restylane Skinbooster is injected in micro-doses into the skin in the area to be treated. Either a needle or cannula is used, as in normal filler treatments. The treatment itself may be perceived as slightly uncomfortable by some, but it is not painful. The product itself contains lidocaine/anesthetic, and we also apply an anesthetic cream to the skin before treatment to reduce any discomfort.
We recommend that everyone start with a course of approximately three treatments for optimal effect. Maintenance treatments are then recommended to maintain the results.
What to expect after treatment
As with all injections, small bruises may occur, but these will disappear after a few days. If bruising occurs, it can be covered with makeup the day after treatment. We do not recommend using makeup or creams with active ingredients on the same day. Some people also experience slight but unproblematic swelling, which will disappear after a short time.
How long should I wait between treatments?
Three treatments are recommended in a course of treatment with approx. 2-4 weeks between treatments + maintenance as needed, typically 1-2 treatments per year.
