Retinol is an antioxidant and an important cell-communicating ingredient. When retinol is absorbed into the skin, it signals the cells to produce healthier, younger cells and increase the production of new ones.
Retinoids/vitamin A boost collagen production and can prevent sun damage before it starts. When skin cells are tolerant to vitamin A, it has been shown to prevent the increase of the collagenase enzyme that breaks down collagen after UV exposure. This helps to:
